what’s your journey?

taking action to achieve my goals has been a lot like taking a canoe journey. when paddling a canoe, to move forward you paddle on both sides of the canoe. in life, to achieve your vision, you take action on goals in all areas of your life.

every journey and goal is different; you never know what your challenges will be, or when you will be challenged during your journey. the effort required to paddle, to take action towards your vision and goals can and will change.

our goals are like the ripples in the water from paddling the canoe, one expanding into another, effecting and joining one another.

on my various canoe journeys i’ve had many different experiences. i’ve been able to paddle leisurely. i’ve been faced with a challenge; a light wind, a strong wind, rain, or a change in direction.

in life there are times when your priority and focus will be on one area of your life and you will spend more time on the goals related to that area of your life to grow and achieve your vision. in these moments paddling, or taking actions for your goals, will be slow and steady to keep you moving forward.

on my canoe adventures i have had to change directions to make it to my destination. changing directions in a canoe requires you paddle more on one side of the canoe than the other. i have changed directions and was going into the wind so i needed to use more focused effort and energy. i have moved into a new direction and the wind was less and the paddling was easier because i wasn’t fighting against the wind.

there are times in life that you need to change directions, the goals you have may no longer be leading you to the vision that you have for yourself. in life changing your goals to achieve your vision may require more discipline and focus, or the goal may be easier because you are not fighting against the challenges that you faced going in the wrong direction.

there are times when i’ve been paddling in the right direction but a strong wind challenged me and i put forth a lot of energy and effort. paddling through challenges requires more determination and focus on your final destination in order to arrive to it. i didn’t let the wind stop me from reaching my destination; i’ve had to paddle with stronger and quicker strokes, i’ve had to move closer to shore stop and let the wind calm or the rain pass. i’ve gone with the flow letting the current carry me to rest, refresh and rejuvenate before continuing on my journey. i’ve had to ask for help in paddling, both to stop paddling and to begin paddling.

there are times when taking action on your goals you will have challenges; negative feelings of overwhelm doubt or worry, negative opinions from others, or a change in another area of your life. it is important to keep taking action towards your goals and move through and grow through the challenges you will face.

i have felt overwhelm when trying to achieve my goals. and the overwhelming feeling is accompanied with thoughts of doubt and worry, and questions of “how?” and “am i going to make it through?” at these times i take time to become aware of where i am, where i’ve been focusing my energies and actions. have i been taking action on one area of my life and neglecting another that i am out of balance and need to realign? do i need to let go and go with the flow?

most often when overwhelm tries to get to me it is because i’m not prioritizing my life and i haven’t had balance for too long. not too long ago i was feeling overwhelm and i became aware that it was because i wasn’t putting my health – specifically my physical activity as a priority. i was neglecting my morning exercise; running, yoga strength and stretching. and i know that when i’m not physically active, i’m affected in all areas of my life. it’s like ripples in the water disturbing and merging with the others. i’m not able to do my best, because i’m not physically my best.

it is important while on your journey, taking action to reach your goal, that you enjoy the journey! happiness comes from the experiences on your journey, not from reaching the final destination. reaching your final destination, achieving your goals is a time for celebration. during your journey and at the end of your journey practice being in present moment awareness. and as one journey ends, be ready for a new journey to begin.

enjoy the challenges of your journey!

river of life

i like to think of my life as a flowing river. all the different currents are my dreams and desires creating my life journey.

the middle currents are faster and free flowing. the currents are the goals and desires that are grounded and centered in your core being.

the currents along the edges are slower having to feel the way and learn while moving along the river. the currents are dreams and desires for experiencing life fully and fulfilling your being.

sometimes there are obstacles, rocks and logs that block the flow of the currents. the obstacles slow the current down and need to be removed or navigated around for the current to continue it’s journey down the river.

what obstacles are in your river? what are you doing to remove them and get around the obstacle?

what does your river look like right now? rivers are constantly moving and changing. the currents are constantly moving and changing.

what are the dreams and desires in the currents of your river? what is the life journey all of your currents are creating in your river of life?

a word, an intention

i have a word for my year. sometimes more than one. this word could be defined as my intention.

for me what helps make a year, a moment, a period of time fulfilling is having a word, an intention, to help guide my being.

an intention to be who i want to be and to create what i want to create.

goals are important, i enjoy having goals, and i have many.

being may be more important than doing. so i have my word, an intention.

in my being, i am able to do what i want to do. in my being, i am able to experience what i want to experience. in my being, i am able to create what i want to create.

my words, intentions, for this year are love and empower.

the words have many different meanings to me.

love

  • give love
  • love unconditionally (especially myself)
  • empower
  • tough love
  • choosing what is most important to me
  • self-care

empower

  • myself
  • my kids
  • all those lives that i touch
  • my business
  • wellbeing
  • abundance
  • freedom

what word do you want for your year, moment, period of time?

what intention do you want to have?

who do you want to be? what do you want to create?

find a word or more, an intention for your being!

dreams and goals

live your life pursuing your dreams and goals, by your values and beliefs.

“The only person who succeeds is the person who is progressively realizing a worthy ideal. He’s the person who says, “I’m going to become this…” and begins working towards that goal.” ~Earl Nightingale

I want you to live a happy and successful life.

  • what makes you happy?
  • what does success mean to you?
  • what is most important to you?
  • how do you want to live your life?

Have you taken time to think about yourself? Do you know your values? What makes you happy? What do you want to do? What do you want to experience? What do you want to give?

In life, we are responsible for ourselves. You are the only person to make yourself happy.

committed

what are you committed to?

are you committed to becoming better? do you have goals that you are committed to?

how committed are you? are you achieving your goals? are you becoming better?

mood-nature-river-water-90771.jpeg

commitment is the decision and dedication to a goal, to a task, to being or to doing.

when you are committed, you continually make decisions to be or to do what you are committed to. the commitment gives you power to be who you want to be, to do what you want to do.

your commitment creates the energy for you to move forward, to becoming better to attaining your goal.

do you have goals that you have not reached? are you being your best and doing your best?

if you are not, what are you committed to? it is something other than your goal. you are committed to the pleasure of being or doing something else.

there is a tipping point to commitment, a point at which you be and do what is needed to be better, to reach your goal. everyone’s tipping point is different, if you are not at your tipping point you are not fully committed. you are not feeling enough pain to fully commit to your goal, to being better.

why do you want to be better? why do you want to attain that goal? your why needs to be bigger than the pleasures that can distract you from your goals.

are you committed to being better? are you committed to your goals?

going around in circles

Values are the foundation for living happy successful lives.

You deserve happiness, abundance and health. The key to your happiness is you. When you know your values, and live your life by your values, you are a happier and healthier person. Often people live their lives without knowing their values and they make decisions based on other people’s expectations. When people make decisions this way they aren’t living the life they are meant to live! They are unhappy and live a life of lack, of wanting more in one or more areas of their lives.

I used to live my life without knowing my values. I wasn’t living my truth. I wasn’t being the me that I wanted to be, I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do, and I wasn’t living how I wanted to live.

Have you ever been in a canoe on a windy day, and paddling just didn’t seem to get you anywhere? I’ve been in a canoe on a windy day, and my paddling wasn’t getting me anywhere. The canoe would go this way and that way. I was facing the wrong direction. I tried to correct my direction by turning the canoe. I was going in a new direction but it still wasn’t the direction that I wanted to go. I was going around in circles and not getting anywhere.

This is how my life felt when I wasn’t living by my values. I made decisions based on what was expected of me, or what I thought was expected of me. I didn’t have my values clearly defined and written down. I didn’t have significant goals for myself in all areas of my life.

It was like the canoe going in all different directions but the direction that I wanted it to. I was going around in circles in my life.

When I was in the canoe on that windy day, it was a challenge for me to get the canoe going in the right direction without making some major changes. I had to trim the canoe, to find a better balance from where to paddle. I turned myself around in the canoe so that I paddled backward to move forward. After struggling, I found my balance and was able to move in the direction that I wanted to more easily and steadily.

My balance was off in my life as well. I was unhappy and unhealthy.

I gradually realized that I wasn’t living by my values, and what my values meant to me. I read a book, ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ by Stephen Covey. I clarified my values, I wrote my values down along with what the value meant to me. I set significant goals in all areas of my life.

I found my balance and started growing in the direction that I wanted to go. I started being who I wanted to be, doing what I wanted to do and living how I wanted to live!

I took responsibility for my life. I am happy and harmonious with my mind at peace with my heart.

Values are a belief that is meaningful to you. Values are priorities that tell you how to spend your time, right here, right now. Stephen Covey says, “(values) are the source of our passions in life, and they help us determine where we focus our energies.”

When you know your values and what they mean to you; creating goals and making decisions are easier. Your values are your guidance system.

And like finding the balance in a canoe on a windy day, knowing your values is like finding your balance for your life. You choose to live by your values, and living by your values creates your happy and harmonious life.

Spiraling Up

Growth and transformation are ever spiraling upwards. The goals that we create for ourselves, the visions we build and imagine for ourselves guide us to take action in becoming who we want to become, in doing what we want to do and in experiencing what we want to experience.

dsc02551

Our vision that we continue to make clear from our dreams and desires determines the goals that we have in our lives. Our goals and visions for our present moment, for the life that we want to live. As we do and be what our goals determine us to do and be we create the life that we want to live. As we live the life that we have imagined, our vision expands and grows. An expanding vision creates new and expanded goals. As we do and be what our new and expanded goals guide us to do and be, we create the new life that we want to live. As we live the new life that we have imagined, our vision expands and grows again, we create more new and expanding goals. We grow continually, ever spiraling upwards.

Life Dreams and Desires

I want to create the life of my dreams.

DSCN3604

Am I fully living? Am I being who I want to be? Am I doing what I want to do? Am I experiencing what I want to experience?

Values guide you to confidently and calmly make decisions, and goals direct you to keep growing and expanding, to take action in being who you want to be and what you want to do.

Goals are a part of your guidance system to create the life of your dreams and desires. Goals are to grow, to experience and be the best you.

“The only person who succeeds is the person who is progressively realizing a worthy ideal.” ~Earl Nightingale

Life is all about you, what is most important to you, what fulfills you, what do you most enjoy? Your passions drive you to your life purpose and life goals.

Fulfillment is feeling joy and gratitude for who you are being, what you are doing, what you are experiencing. Fulfillment is enjoying your life journey. Fulfillment is living your truth!

Living your truth is pursuing and living your life goals, your dreams and desires, your passions. Living your truth is being happy, experiencing life, living life fully with purpose.

“We are always becoming, we are always creating. Today I am more than I was yesterday, tomorrow I am more than I am today.”

Are you fully living? Are you creating the life of your dreams?

Question Change

I’ve been receiving a message in various ways; a quote, an audio, a reading. The message – change yourself in order to reach your goals, your dreams and desires.

The idea, thought, has been on my mind. And I’ve been thinking and wondering.

dsc02551

What have I changed?

Am I living my truth? Am I living to become the best me? What is most important to me? And, what do I want?

Am I putting what is most important to me NOW and my most important wants first? Is my NOW moment aligned with my most important dreams and desires?

Am I being grateful? Am I being positive?

I’m asking the questions. Am I going deep inside and answering the questions?

It is harder to go deep and connect to my inner being during challenging times. I need to have more faith and trust in myself and the Universe. It can be so hard to let go and allow.

To allow, to make, to do – change. And to grow.

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” ~ Wayne Dyer

What can I do? What change can I make to create the life that I dream of living?

What change can you make to create the life that you dream of living?
