It’s Time to Follow Your Truth

She sat playing with her kids one morning, toys strewn all around. The kids were loved, her career didn’t light her up, she struggled with overwhelm from life’s challenges, and though her life looked “fine” on the outside, inside she carried a growing emptiness. She found herself wondering in the midst of playful laughter, “Who am I? What am I even doing with my life?”

Maybe you know that question too. That moment when the routines, roles, and responsibilities you’ve carried for years suddenly feel heavy and hollow. You wake up realizing you’ve spent so much of your life caring for others, following expectations, doing what’s “right”, and somewhere along the way, you lost yourself.

Erin Marie Barry Live Your Truth Journey

This is the quiet ache so many women experience in midlife. The sense that something is missing, though it’s hard to name.

Turning Point

The woman sitting on the floor surrounded by kids and toys, let’s call her Supermom Sara, reached a breaking point when she realized she was living a life of a conforming people pleaser rather than her purpose and passion. That realization scared her. But instead of pushing it down again, she chose to listen.

It started with simple questions she had never let herself ask:

  • What do I want?
  • What brings me joy?
  • If I weren’t afraid of being judged, what would I do differently?

The answers didn’t come overnight. But little by little, she began reconnecting with her inner wisdom, the quiet voice she had silenced for years. She started journaling again, went to the lake more often, and gave herself permission to say no to what drained her. She stopped pretending she was “fine” and instead began creating space for what lit her up.

Her life didn’t magically change overnight. But something inside of her did: she remembered she had a choice.

Happiness and Fulfillment

When you reconnect with your authentic self and start living aligned with your inner wisdom, life feels different. Not perfect. Not always easy. But deeply yours.

It looks like…
✨ Waking up with excitement, a sense of possibility instead of dread.
✨ Saying yes to what excites you and no to what drains you without judging yourself.
✨ Feeling confident to walk your own path, even if others don’t understand.
✨ Having energy again because you’re not wasting it pretending to be someone you’re not.
✨ Enjoying moments of joy, being present with your loved ones, coffee in the morning sun, laughter with a friend, the thrill of a new adventure without feeling guilty or “selfish.”

Happiness and fulfillment aren’t about having everything figured out. They’re about being aligned with what truly matters to you.

Step Into Fulfillment

If you’re thinking, That’s what I want, but I don’t know where to start, here are a few things you can do beginning now:

  1. Ask Better Questions. Instead of “What should I do?” try “What do I truly want?” Write the answers down without judgment.
  2. Reconnect With Joy. Think back to what you loved as a child or young adult before responsibilities took over. Bring one of those things back into your life.
  3. Define Your Values. What matters most to you now? Not ten years ago, not what others expect, but right now. Use those values as your guidance system for decisions.
  4. Give Yourself Permission. Permission to say no, to change your mind, to follow what feels true to you.
  5. Find Support. You don’t have to do this alone. Whether it’s a coach, a circle of women, or one trusted friend, surround yourself with people who remind you of your power, not those who make you doubt it.
